GERMANY:THE RING AND THE TOWER

So we are in Germany and it is awesome.

Landed in Köln, checked into the hotel, went to the theatre introduced the film, had some beers and then did the Q and A.

The Germans seemed to like the film. Much laughing in the right places.

Most people I meet here have trouble understanding my dodgy South Island form of the English language so some of the dialogue jokes may not have come across.
But Devil is not a dialogue heavy film so - sweet as.

That night we went out for a drink with Marcus from legend films and Frederike from the FANTASY FESTIVAL.

We were introduced to this amazing thing called 'Das Ring'. It is basically eight beers in a wooden ring .
We were so keen to experience the German culture that we had three of these rings and ended up drunk as fuck.

The following morning it was time to go to BOCHUM.

Drunkenly we made a plan with Frederike to meet at the Koln Cathedral so she could show us where to catch the train .
Now neither me nor Chris were clever enough to have phones that work in Germany. So we arrive at the Cathedral and it was massive.
There are about 3000 people taking photos and so we couldn't find Frederike, we completely missed our train and had to work out how to get to BOCHUM our selves.

Which we did - sweet as.
Just hours late and hundreds of dollars wasted.

In BOCHUM we stayed at the coolest hotel Tucholsky Art Hotel it was flash as all hell with individually designed rooms. My room had a stupidly big bathroom and Chris' was some kind of Japanese design.

The screening went really well again with much laughter. After the Q and A we went drinking in a BOCHUM center know as the Bermuda Triangle.
It is basically this massive area with hundreds of outside bars.
So many bars infact it is very easy to get lost.

It was there in the Bermuda Triangle that we discovered - THE TOWER.
A huge amount of beer served in a massive tower with a tap at the bottom.
Our German friends laughed and said we would never defeat the tower but we did.
And in record time.
Then stumbled back to our classy hotel. Avoiding the perils of the Bermuda triangle.

Now it is off to BERLIN for more screenings.
But to get there we must travel at many hundreds of Kilometers an hour on a high speed train.
What amazing adventures will we get up to next?

Hi Matt and Randy,

I was watching your movie in Cologne and I really love your movie. It is dirty and respectless but you made a good point telling a story about some kind of tardy hero. One of those movies that tells you to stick to your dreams and do what you feel you should do. But maybe that's just crap. I love such ancient stuntshows. Your movie is so true. Matt, you told the people in the cinema you had crashed about a dozen banged up junkcars - but the stunts.. hm.. they looked a bit staged as far as I remember and somehow I was not satisfied with that. Comedy at first... Stunts at second..? Do both at first! Let Ray Baumann jump the cars. He lives down under...

When you plan to release the DVD in Germany I really like to work on subtitles or something like that.

The last jump Randy did was the funniest thing I had ever seen. Keep the good work up.

Regards, heavymett
